Business Mentoring Begins from Within

I’ve run several businesses from start up and taken various leadership roles; Founder,  Director and Shareholder. A key role has been CFO and Director for Certatech (merged to form CMC Group and now called 460 degrees) until the business turned more than $8 million. Then I led the post merger  business until it turned over more than $40 million. I’m now a shareholder of this business. I was also actively involved as a business leader and residential property seller with Silver Service Real Estate for more than a decade.

I’ve learned that leadership is everything and it starts from within you, with your vision, from which a clarity of intention, influence and communication creates your reality. Working side-by-side in your business, is how we can best explore what works and what could be better.

Some people will have a dollar sign attached to everything they do, while for others this is not their primary driver. My role as a supporter lies in working through the entire fabric of the person and their business to help them discover their unique pathway to success, then guide them along this until their business is thriving.

Active business leadership and day to day engagement is the support that I offer to business owners who want to scale and at least double their business  within 12 months. It’s at this stage that experienced leadership and mentoring can create incredible leverage for the business owner that transforms a small business into a mid-sized enterprise or larger.

Before I start to work with my customer I ask them to be open with me about their background. Sometimes I receive a high level of detail, often people are less forthcoming or they don’t participate.

This is where accountability begins. Those that are not willing to share openly at this point are not likely to gain value from my energy or process. I’ve found that culture is the defining feature of every successful business that I have supported. That culture begins with the owner and their internal dialogue.

Control vs. Influence in Business Culture
